Jules Nyssen, a popular FEI-level competitor at the 1996 CDI-W Raleigh, competed for his native country, The Netherlands.
Trophy, ribbon, and prize money to First Place; Ribbons through Sixth Place (except ribbons through 8th place in the Prix St Georges and Intermediate I). Prize money through Fifth Place and distributed as follows:
Because FEI rules require that prize money be distributed to 25% of participants in each competition (class), additional prizes will be awarded in these classes if more than 20 competitors are entered. Prize money will be paid at the conclusion of the show provided that there are no outstanding obligations to the Committee or any supplier. Special Awards for the CDI classes are sponsored by Sandie Dennis. Competitors in the FEI World Cup Freestyle Competition (Class 105) will receive stable plates and the winner of the class will receive an embroidered dress sheet courtesy of USEF. A $100 gift certificate will be presented by The Paddock Saddlery to the "Best Presented Male and Female" at the FEI Veterinary Inspection ("Jog") on Thursday afternoon.
Capital Dressage ClassicTrophy and six ribbons in each Capital Dressage Classic class The North Carolina Dressage and Combined Training Association High Percentage Awards : First-Fourth Levels, FEI levels combined. Freestyles, Materiale, and Young Horse Tests excluded. For these awards, The Paddock Saddlery has graciously donated garment and boot bags, plus a $50 gift certificate. Training Level Award: for the highest average percentage throughout the show. To qualify, a competitor must compete in a minimum of 3 classes at Training Level. The winner will receive $50. The Training Level Adult Amateur Award: a pair of fleesce-lined splint boots, graciously donated by NCDCTA President, Jennifer Mitchell, will be presented to the highest scoring Training Level Adult Amateur of the show. High Score JR/YR Award: will have his/her name engraved on the Lyndee Harrell High Score Perpetual Trophy and will receive a special award kindly donated by M&M Tack Shop. Percentage scores received at any level of competition, except Freestyle, will count for this award. High-score Pony Award: For the highest scoring pony in any class, Freestyles and Young Horse tests excluded. Rider or owner must sign up for the award in the show office before Sunday. Grand Prix Musical Freestyle Perpetual Trophy in Memory of Polar: to the winner of the CDI-W/Y/J Raleigh Grand Prix Musical Freestyle (class 105) provided by Lynn Tate Leath and North Star Training Center. The winner will receive a keeper award. NCDCTA Freestyle Award: perpetual trophy awarded to the NCDCTA horse/rider combination, participating in the annual NCDCTA Horse of the Year Awards, receiving the highest percentage score for a USDF First-Fourth Level freestyle at the show. Ashok Taori Memorial Team Challenge Competition: An annual competition to celebrate the memory of Dr. Ashok Taori, a dedicated dressage rider who loved teamwork, competition, and young people. The competition is open to teams of two riders who have not reached their 19th birthday as of the first day of the competition. Each member of the team must ride two tests on Saturday at any two consecutive levels (CDI classes and freestyles excluded). Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to each team member of the three highest placed teams, respectively. The award is based on combined percentage scores in the two qualifying classes. Emily Rawle Memorial Trophy: was donated by Fellowship Farm and many former USDF Region One Young Riders to show their appreciation for Emily Rawle, who died in 1999. A native of Pennsylvania, Emily was an exemplary competitor, and through her years of competing as a Young Rider for Region One, everyone got to know her as a true champion. She had the wonderful quality of encouraging and applauding everyone, making each competitor feel special. The confidence and warmth she bestowed on all of us will be greatly missed but so joyously remembered. In the words of the donors: Thank you, Emily, for reminding us of the important things in life. The trophy will be awarded to the Young Rider with the highest averaged score from the FEI Young Rider Team and Young Rider Prix St Georges Tests at CDI-W/Y/J Raleigh. The winner will also receive a keeper award. The highest scoring “Born in the USA Horse” and highest scoring “Born in North Carolina Horse” will each receive a special award courtesy of Marydell Farm and Maryanna and Wendell Haymon. Scores from all classes excluding freestyles, materiale and FEI Young Horse classes will be counted. Horses must be foaled in the U.S. In order to qualify for this award, breeders of record must be US or NC residents, respectively, or breed registration papers verifying eligibility must be submitted to the secretary. A perpetual trophy will also be donated for the “Born in the USA Horse” award and the winner of this award will also receive a $100 cash award. The Trainers Award will be presented to the trainer with the highest average dressage scores of the show. Both trainer’s scores and those of his/her students will count towards this calculation. A trainer must have at least two students competing in the show to qualify. To be eligible for this award, the trainer must sign up for this award on the sheet provided in the show office prior to the first of the qualifying rides. The trainer must list on the application form each student whose student whose scores will count toward this award. Details of the award and sign-up sheet are posted in the show office. The winner will receive a special award. For the USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Eastern Selection Trial for the 2008 FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Dressage, ribbons and dress sheets will be awarded by USEF, for both the Five Year Old and Six Year Old Final Selection average high score winners. Neck sash ribbons will be awarded by the show to the first six places in each Finals class. $2000 in prize money for first through fifth places will be provided by the competition for average high score winners in each age group, to be distributed as follows: $600, $500, $400, $300, $200. Note: The Memorial and Perpetual trophies will be engraved with the winners name and will remain on display in the NCDCTAs trophy case in the Hunt Horse Complex. Keeper awards are given with some of these perpetual awards.
